SoW Community Guidelines

Secrets of War is more than a game—it’s a community with history, legacy, and real people behind every nation, alliance, and base. To make SoW a place where players enjoy competing, connecting, and building memories, we ask all members to uphold the following standards.

These guidelines apply across all official Secrets of War spaces:

• In-game chat
• Discord
• Forums
• Player-to-player messaging (when related to game activity)
• Any other official community hubs

Our goal is simple: keep the world competitive, but keep the community kind.

1. Respect Every Player

We have zero tolerance for:

• Harassment or targeted personal attacks
  
• Hate speech, slurs, or bigotry
  
• Threats or encouragement of self-harm
  
• Cruelty, humiliation, or personal mockery
  
• Doxxing, rumor spreading, or sharing private information
  

If you cross these lines, you may be removed immediately.

2. Clarification: PvP Targeting vs. Personal Targeting

Secrets of War is a PvP strategy game. Targeting other players in-game is expected.

✔️ Allowed: Strategic In-Game Targeting

It is perfectly acceptable to:

• Repeatedly attack or siege an opponent
  
• Focus pressure on a rival nation
  
• Wage coordinated faction wars
  
• Exploit strategic weaknesses
  
• Blockade, raid, harass in-game assets
  

This is normal, competitive, intentional gameplay.

❌ Not Allowed: Personal Targeting

What is not allowed is attacking the real person behind the screen.

Examples:

• Harassing someone in chat or DMs
  
• Mocking someone’s real-life situation
  
• Any encouragement of harm to another person
• Dogpiling a player socially
  
• Trying to provoke emotional or psychological damage
  
• Bringing real-life conflicts into the game
  

You may destroy their base.
You may NOT try to destroy their well-being.

3. Smack Talk: Allowed With Limits

Rivalries, banter, and faction shade are part of the SoW DNA.

Allowed:

• Playful trash talk
  
• Competitive teasing
  
• Tactical mind games
  
• Alliance rivalries
  

Not Allowed:

• Insults about someone personally
  
• Cruel, demeaning, or malicious speech
  
• Harassment disguised as “just joking”
  
• Comments clearly intended to hurt
  

Fight hard. Talk smart. Don’t be cruel.

4. Keep the Community Safe

Not allowed:

• Sexual content
  
• Disturbing or graphic imagery
  
• Extremist, hateful, or violent ideology
  
• Encouraging illegal activity or substance abuse
  

We have players of many ages and backgrounds—keep the community open and safe.

5. No Spam or Disruption

Do not:

• Flood chats
  
• Derail conversations
  
• Advertise outside services
  
• Troll for reactions
  
• Spread misinformation intentionally
  

Signal > Noise.

6. Respect Privacy

Never share:

• Real names
  
• Photos
  
• Home/work locations
  
• Private conversations (without consent)
  
• Personal data found elsewhere
  

Keep SoW about the game—not the real world.

7. Healthy Conflict Resolution

If a conversation or disagreement gets heated:

• Step away for a moment
  
• Avoid escalating
  
• Mute or block if needed
  
• Ask moderators for help if necessary
  

The game has enough battles—don’t create unnecessary ones in chat.

8. Fair Play & Honesty

We expect: - Integrity in communication
- Respect for rivals
- Support for new players
- A focus on fun and fairness

Help keep the community welcoming for veterans and newcomers alike.

9. Moderation & Enforcement

Moderators use a fair but firm escalation system.

Immediate removal for:

• Hate speech
  
• Encouraging self-harm
  
• Threats of violence
  
• Extreme personal harassment
  

Escalating actions for other issues:

1. Friendly reminder
   
2. Official warning
   
3. Timeout or temporary ban
   
4. Removal from community spaces
   

Moderator decisions are final, but respectful appeals are welcome.

10. We Are Building This Community Together

Secrets of War survived because of the players who loved it—and we’re rebuilding that legacy now. To honor that past and build a better future:

• Assume good intent where possible
  
• Celebrate others’ accomplishments
  
• Support new and returning players
  
• Treat rivals with respect
  
• Uphold the values of the SoW legacy
  

We can’t always control the battlefield.
We can control how we treat people.

• Don’t be hateful
  
• Don’t be cruel
  
• Don’t be disruptive
  
• Respect privacy
  
• PvP is fair game — personal harassment is not
  
• Make this a community worth being part of
